Tanya Knannlein designed clothing for men, children and women for over 10 years in the Seattle fashion industry before branching into freelance textile design and computer instruction for local companies. She has been teaching technology, design and textiles classes at AD&D for over 13 years. She graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design and a BA in German from Washington University in St. Louis and has been a member of the Surface Design Association, and the International Textile and Apparel Association. On weekends she can often be found dancing at rockabilly and western swing shows or putting her feet up and reading about the early Middle Ages.

Originally from the Midwest, Scott Moy grew up with seven sisters and one brother, taking an interest in sewing and patterning at an early age. He graduated from St. Olaf College with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, with semesters in New York-Pratt Manhattan and Kansas City Art Institute. He moved to Seattle in 1993 and graduated from the School of Apparel Design & Development in 2004 with top honors. He has been teaching construction and design classes since 2007, and has worked as a stylist, fashion editor, and a costume designer/stitcher. Scott spends his time camping, biking, going to yoga, cooking and collecting and wearing asymmetrical and whimsical new and vintage clothing.

Creating clothing has been a part of Ondine Toler-Scott’s life since learning how to sew at age seven. Parents who were teachers, a limited clothing budget growing up, and a variety of professional experiences have shaped Ondine into an instructor who promotes problem solving in her patternmaking and construction courses. She holds a BA from the University of California in Santa Cruz in Comparative Literature and is an AD&D Alumnus. As a contractor, Ondine has developed a wide range of product including uniforms for Seattle’s roller derby team, the Rat City Roller Girls, Franciscan friar habits, and sexy maternity bras. She teaches because she just can’t help it.

Born into a family of teachers and artists, Emily Quilter was passionate about sewing and design from an early age, and her desire to master these skills drove her to earn a BS in Fashion Design from the school of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Moving to Seattle soon after graduation, Emily has been designing kid’s wear and sports apparel for a variety of local companies for 17 years. In addition to her work experience, Emily has been instructing at AD&D for the past 11 years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, playing with dogs, cycling and vacationing in tropical paradises.

Dawn Smithson has been interested in fashion, art and design since she can remember. Before graduating from AD&D and diving into the apparel industry, she was a musician and a fine artist who was fascinated with clothing and furniture design. After eleven years of designing menswear in Seattle she turned her love of leather and all things structural into her own accessories brand. When she’s not teaching skill development courses to AD&D’s prospective students, Dawn makes luxury handbags, does freelance design and also makes patterns for local brands. For relaxation she paints botanicals, creates music, and dreams up new bag designs.
